Run for the hills, the end of the world is coming!
Hey, who pulled the plug?! Blackouts in Cape Town and Joburg? We are all in the dark and we don’t know why. A reliable source called Norman says an ant got through Koeberg’s barbed wire fence (that they bought years ago from a bankrupt Karoo sheep farmer) and caused a short in the whatyoumacallit. Carol, who lives with her mom across the way, reckons it’s those double-adaptors you get nowdays. "No matter how much you wiggle them, they never work…" she says. Another source (who had forgotten his name and therefore will remain anonymous) swears it’s electric interference from passing UFO’s: “I swear pal, there I was sitting on my stoep enjoying a little dop and the dying rays from Koeberg, when suddenly this thing like a flying plate lands right before my eyes…” Then there's Neil, who lives alone in a caravan behind us, he insists the blackouts are further proof of the cartels at work. “I insist the blackouts are further proof of the cartels at work,” he says. Who do we believe? All we know with certainty is that Eskom, City Council and Koeberg had nothing to do with the problem.

Budget Weekenders, we must learn to prepare for these foreseen eventualities. We must learn to think Alternative Energy. We must BE alternative energy. We are therefore proud to do our bit by introducing the first-ever “Alternative Energy Escape.” At one of our Eskom-free secret hideaways, you will learn the art of survival. You will learn to live without a hairdryer. You will learn to save energy by staying in bed all day. You will learn how to light a candle. You will breathe in boerewors smoke from a wood fire. You will produce your own natural methane gas. You will experience the miracle of hot water from a donkey. You WILL have a fabulous time.
